This opportunity resides with Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Summary

HII-Mission Technologies is currently seeking a skilled Curriculum Developer/Instructor with DOD Rule of Law experience, supporting the Defense Institute of International Legal Studies (DIILS). The selected candidate will adapt and develop training curriculums to a more adult-learner, centered, and experiential-based instructional model, in order to facilitate delivery of more tailored and effective training curriculum for the DIILS-Rule of Law Program, headquartered in Newport, RI. Position is remote and part time, with occasional trips CONUS and/or OCONUS. Come join our growing team today!

What you will do

  • Maintain customer software inventory and network licensing information

  • Conduct training in support of DILLS

  • Provide legal subject matter expertise and pedagogical expertise in curriculum and instructional design for adult learning in preparing fourteen (14) core curriculum modules

  • This will include associated supporting content, learning objectives, desired outcomes, measures of success, and instructor notes and guidance that shall be derived from, informed by, and consistent with the substantive contents of the existing DoD General Counsel-approved government-provided Curriculum.

  • Provide legal subject matter expertise and pedagogical expertise in curriculum and instructional design for adult learning in preparing eleven (11) complementary cyber security curriculum modules

  • This will include associated supporting content, learning objectives, desired outcomes, measures of success, and instructor notes and guidance that shall be derived from, informed by, and consistent with the substantive contents of existing government-provided Curriculum

  • Develop thirty-eight (38) wholly new complementary curriculum modules focused on the application of human rights law, law of armed conflict, rule of law, and international rights and obligations relevant to the air, border, and maritime domains pursuant to consultation and coordination with relevant personnel

  • This will include associated supporting content, learning objectives, desired outcomes, measures of success, and instructor notes and guidance

  • Commence curriculum development as a member of the team. Curriculum Development will be conducted in coordination with other designated personnel designated

  • Provide a weekly status report by email updating the progress of curriculum development

  • Prepare a written draft After Action Report (AAR) identifying the achievement of curriculum development outcomes, in accordance with formal and informal feedback

  • Participate in a final review of the work product out brief

  • Familiarize with standard concepts, practices, and procedures

  • Display basic knowledge of electronic media, local area networks and associated accessories

  • Execute additional duties as tasked by Govt leads

  • Additional duties as assigned or required

What we are looking for

  • 7 years relevant experience with an advanced legal degree, such as a LLB of Masters of Laws (LLM) or similar related field, or 4 years relevant experience with Juris Doctorate in related field

  • Must have experience teaching advanced academic courses and presenting professional briefings/reports related to proposed topics

  • Thorough knowledge, experience, and current research in the identified law to LAMSO topical areas

  • Specific subject matter expertise and experience in LAMSO must be demonstrated

  • Evidence of specific knowledge shall include, but is not limited to, verified work experience, published papers (from peer reviewed professional journals), contributions to reports, presentations related to the subject matter

  • Ability to communicate multifaceted issues in an effective manner, discuss complex problems, conduct analysis, and recommend solutions

  • Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain up to a TS/SCI

Bonus points for...

  • 10 years of experience working in international law

  • 5 years experience in applying international and domestic law to LAMSO

  • Experience in leading and conducting courses with an international audience similar in size and composition to the audience anticipated for assigned event(s)

  • Recent and relevant international instructional and research experience in LAMSO within the last 2 years

  • Understanding of US Security Cooperation procedures and policy highly desired

  • Knowledge of DOD Writing Manual and 36 CFR, Chapter XII, Subchapter B DODM 5110.04-M, Part 5.1 4

  • Ability to work effectively in a team instructional environment

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
