Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to):
Under minimal supervision, ensures safe and compliant testing and analysis of various components
Performs non-destructive tests (NDT) on aircraft engines or components.
Inspects metallic and non-metallic materials, parts and assemblies for defects using automated and manual methods to ensure compliance with appropriate regulatory guidelines.
Must be able to use radiography, ultrasound, penetrant, eddy current, laser shearography, and magnetic particle.
Must currently possess or have the ability to certify in non-destructive testing in accordance with DOE or DoD regulations.
Provides various electronic and hard copy reports of inspections and notifies appropriate parties including project engineers.
Sets up and calibrates measuring and test equipment and schedules service and repair of equipment. May prepare, update and maintain calibration computer databases.
May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
Ability to interpret complex information and respond to a variety of complex issues.
Work with established techniques for proper examinations of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.
Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment.
Adhere to operating site and industry regulatory guidance and governance specific to facility operations.
Can work under minimal oversight of daily work.
Requires attention to detail, personal accountability/ownership for assigned tasks, ability to produce legible and accurate operational records, ability to manage multiple tasks/responsibilities, and an aptitude for operations.
Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job
Travel may be required.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must be able to obtain and maintain and a government security clearance.
Must be a US citizen.
Education and Experience Required:
Associate’s or other 2 year Technical degree in related discipline and 1 year of related experience, or a High School graduate or equivalent and 2 years or more related work experience. Prefer someone with NDT certification.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
General and Radiation Physical Required.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear and must be able to use vertical or inclined ladders. 20% of the work may involve kneeling, stooping and standing. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. Regular exposure to work in high places and around moving machinery and vibration can be expected.
The noise level may be loud due to equipment and machinery in use. 90% of these tasks will be working in an office environment, but also may include work in/on ship environment and at a computer work station on board ship. The employee will exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force to move objects. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and climb ladders and stairways, use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
