Who We Are

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a skilled Drafter 2 to support our engineering and design teams. The ideal candidate will posses strong technical drafting skills and keen attention to detail, contributing to the development of innovative solutions in a fast - paced environment.

This posting is to collect applications for current and future openings for HII Mission Technologies. Candidates will be screened as opportunities come available and selected candidates will be contacted about an opportunity.

What You Will Do

  • Plans, lays outs, draws, and revises detailed part, assembly, and installation engineering drawings from basic layouts, established references, and standard data in a field of specialization such as structures, devices, mechanics, electrical, or electronics.

  • Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA.

  • Completes details of major layout drawings prepared by others in accordance with standard engineering drafting practices.

  • Determines scaling; inserts necessary reference planes, centering and dimension lines, hidden line interpolations, and sectioning.

  • Prepares specifications for parts, assemblies, and installations.

  • Prepares complete production detail drawings.

  • Contributes design modifications to improve quality of product or facilitate manufacturing operations.

What You Must Have

  • AA or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 1 year related experience. HS + 3 years related experience may be substituted for AA degree.

  • Candidate must have general knowledge of engineering drawing standards.

  • Candidate must have experience in working 2D/3D drawing for drafting and design

  • Candidate must be proficient Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).

  • Candidate must have excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Candidate must have the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

  • Candidate must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Candidate must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Candidate must have strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Candidate must be okay working 40 hours per week for occasional extended periods

Bonus Points For Having!

  • Experience with shipboard systems and operations in disciplines related in either electrical, ventilation, structural or mechanical

  • Ship design experience and or training in disciplines related in either electrical, ventilation, structural or mechanical

  • Have proficiency in 2D/3D AutoCAD software

  • Strong understanding of design principles

  • Strong understanding to interpret discipline specific drawings

Physical Requirements

Office, industrial or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances during site surveys. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift. Must be able to perform site surveys and carry a lap top computer.
