Job Description

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Mission Technologies (HII-MT) is actively seeking candidates with principal-level Government, Military, or Industry subject-matter expert (SME), chief engineering, or organizational technical advisory role experience in Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS) Warfare for placement on our Tech Center Senior Advisory team. The team provides needed expert support to our operations program teams & Government customers. Our SMEs also serve as the foundation of our organization's technical advisory to our senior leaders, maintain our expertise & tech base, and provide professional development & mentorship opportunities for our workforce.

This position is managed from Dayton, Ohio.

Essential Job Responsibilities

The Tech Center is a growing and highly flexible matrixed organization. Our team of SMEs and technical Advisors engages across our portfolio of programs and companies. They are not limited to working on a single project or task.

This Senior Technical Advisory role is directly focused on developing technical solutions & internal development programs to address DoD customer programs & business opportunities in the competency areas of Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS) Warfare. Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Contributing to our strategic EMS technology & expertise development (e.g., strategic goals & strategy development, senior leadership advisory, expanding our tech base into novel & disruptive areas)

• Establishing cross-functional & matrixed programs for new or novel technical solutions addressing DoD customer needs and internal research & development (IRAD) projects.

• Contributing to our business opportunities with concept & technical solutions (e.g., concept architectures, whitepapers, and supporting RFI and proposal development teams)

• Opportunities for DoD customer support (e.g., studies & analysis, SME, and advisory tasks)

• In addition, this role should routinely contribute to internal professional development initiatives (e.g., mentorship, continuous learning, or organizational quality improvements).

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 15 years experience in related Engineering, Technical Programmatic Teams, or technical leadership area roles

• Demonstrated experience in a Government, Military, or Industry senior level engineering or technical authority position (e.g., Government, Military, or Industry level Directors of Engineering (DoE), Chief Engineers, Technical Advisors, Technical Program Leads, or Team/Branch/Division Level Leads).

• Master’s Degree in an engineering or technical discipline (e.g., Engineering, Science, or Technical Management).

• Candidates must possess expert-level knowledge & breadth of experience in the field of Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS) Warfare to be considered a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to include the following tech-areas: Electronic Warfare & Electronic Countermeasures techniques & systems, Info-Operations, Airborne Electronic Attack, Threat Based Modeling & Analysis, Multi-Domain EW (e.g., Ground, Air, Space, Cyber), and Cognitive & Adaptive EW applications.

• Candidates must have applied experience developing & executing R&D and technology development portfolios, roadmaps, execution plans, and systems engineering processes to go from early R&D concepts to demonstratable technology solutions to meet DoD customer timelines.

• Candidates will demonstrate qualities inherent with senior-leadership experience, such as the ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations to meet requirements and objectives within available resources; adapt standard techniques/processes to perform complex tasks; plan and organize cross-functional resources into matrixed teams; and mentor junior managers and employees.

• Candidates must obtain or maintain a minimum TS/SCI clearance and access commensurate to their involvement with the USG. Candidates will be subject to investigation as required by the NISPOM, ICD 704 processes, DoD Manual 5205.07, Volume 2, and any additional Government Policy or Directives as determined by the Cognizant Security Agency. Candidates may be subject to a polygraph and enhanced security review.

Preferred Requirements

• Minimum of 20 years experience in related Engineering, Technical Programmatic Teams, or technical leadership area roles

• Master’s level degree or certificate programs in Leadership

• DoD operational or testing experience with EMS warfare systems

• Applied experience with Model Based Engineering approaches, processes & tools for rapid solutions development

• DoD development experience with Collaborative Combat Aircraft and related technologies to deploy with 5th-Gen+ capabilities

• DoD or equivalent certifications in Acquisition or Program Management

• DoD experience on classified programs

• Previously Published Research or contributions to Technical Organizations.
