UniversalPegasus International is seeking a GIS Specialist. In this role you will use ArcGIS and various Microsoft Office programs to prepare maps, sketches, reports, alignment sheets, and project specific deliverables. You will analyze and manipulate technical data and perform technical training.

You will be responsible for supporting GIS Managers and Sr. GIS Specialists with technical tasks related to project deliverables. You will also assist in the research and development of new workflows based on new hardware and software.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting GIS Project Managers and Sr. GIS Specialists in creating required project deliverables.

  • Responsible for learning new GIS related software packages.

  • Prioritizing and documents project workload for self.

  • Follow set GIS standards and work flows and develop new workflows or data integrity models as necessary.

  • Responsible for producing high quality data/maps on a consistent and timely basis.

  • Recommend improvements in workflows and procedures based on new hardware, software and industry standards.

  • Assist in the creation of work instructions and development of training materials for the GIS team.

  • Perform technical training on GIS production related tasks as necessary.

  • Support technical development of GIS Analysts and GIS Technicians in production group.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Highly proficient with ESRI GIS environment and capabilities (ESRI products version 9.x or newer).

  • Highly proficient with ArcToolbox in 9.x. (Version 9.x or newer).

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Proficient with Automated Alignment sheet generators.

  • Proficient with ArcSDE and Database tasks.

  • Highly proficient in manipulation/editing and joining tables.

  • Highly proficient in creating/editing shape (.shp) and other geospatial files.

  • Highly proficient with ESRI based geospatial reports (Topology, Linear Reference etc.).

  • Experience with model builder.

  • Familiar with ArcSDE environment.

  • Willingness to share work knowledge with GIS team.

  • Willingness to learn and advance into any GIS specialization needed by the group/company.

  • Experience with imagery manipulation and projections.

  • Ability to multi-task.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.

  • GIS Certification preferred.

  • 6 to 8 years of related experience.

  • Prior training in computer programs such as ArcMap and Microsoft Office Suite.
