The Role

This Job Listing is for recent or upcoming 2024 High School Graduates. Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is offering a $1000 sign-on bonus to entry-level cnc machinist new hires. In addition, NNS is offering $1000 in relocation bonus to Entry-Level cnc machinist new hires that live 50 miles or greater from Newport News, VA. Job seekers who apply until August 1, 2024, are eligible for the sign-on and relocation bonus. Inside (CNC) Machinists operate various machines (manual and/or CNC) such as; lathes, mills, vertical machining centers, horizontal boring mills, etc. Inside machinists troubleshoot operations and take appropriate actions to correct. The machinists perform quality inspections, verifying dimensions of work piece are in accordance with drawing specifications.

Must Have

Candidates must be 18 years of age or older and legally eligible to work in the U.S.

Candidates must be able to:

Climb ladders and work at extreme heights.

Work in small, tight, or confined spaces.

Kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb on a daily basis.

Lift heavy objects weighing 40 lbs. or more

Work while repeatedly reaching overhead.

Work indoors or outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.

Work in areas with radiation.

Work assigned shift as production needs.

Take and pass a Physical Agility Test.

Nice to Have

Prior Mechanical experience such as Automotive Repair, Plant Maintenance, Machinery Installation/Repair is a plus. Successful completion of a technical/vocational program in Machining, Diesel Technology, Automotive, HVAC, Mechanical.
