External Job Description:
Position will provide HR support to approximately 250 deck plate employees and managers in a shipyard environment. Successful candidate must be willing to work inside Newport News Shipyard a minimum of 3 to 4 days per week and work in our Net Center HR office in Newport News the remainder of the week.
Position will have an emphasis on internal staffing to include job requisition management, reviewing and processing job internal offers, compensation review and recommendations, and presenting new hire orientation. Position will also conduct Employee Relations investigations and work with managers on performance management.
To qualify for this position candidate must have the following work experience:
• Experience with recruitment/staffing, Kenexa or other applicant tracking systems.
• Knowledge of Affirmative action compliance requirements in support of responding to OFCCP Audits and other DOL regulations.
• Knowledge of employment regulatory requirements.
• Experience conducting Employee Relations investigations and recommending corrective actions.
• Conducting exit interviews.
• Experience working in a fast paced, high demand environment.
• Excellent communication and internal customer service.
Position may require travel to various local off-site locations as needed.
Implements Human Resources policies as a generalist, partnering with business operations to ensure a complete understanding of business needs and objectives and resolves HR issues. Responsible for and/or serves as a HR liaison for most of the following areas: succession planning, talent management, labor relations, employment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, EEO, and/or training and development. Position may also support Corporate HR to include involvement in company-wide projects.
Implements Human Resources policies as a generalist, partnering with business operations to ensure a complete understanding of business needs and objectives and resolves HR issues. Responsible for and/or serves as a HR liaison for most of the following areas: succession planning, talent management, labor relations, employment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, EEO, and/or training and development.
Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.

6 Years relevant experience with Bachelors; 4 Years relevant experience with Masters; An additional 4 years of specific job experience with a HS diploma may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this job. This experience is in addition to the relevant years of experience listed with the job's education requirements. Example: If this job required a Bachelor's degree + 5 years relevant experience the equivalency would equal HS diploma + 9 years job related experience.
