External Job Description:

Management of audio visual (AV) and meeting production services in support of company objectives. Includes the maintenance and upkeep of AV equipment inventory, asset management, media production equipment and facilities as well as fixed AV installations at various company sites. May supervise AV specialists, outside contractors providing technical support and media production services. Manages department budget, purchases equipment and supplies. May select, negotiate and assign outside contractors as required. Maintains company photographic and video libraries.

Manage and develop a team of videographers and photographers responsible for telling stories through video and photo. Responsible for all video and photo products to include planning, critiquing and overseeing staff to schedule assignments accordingly, ensure quality of the work meets or exceeds expectations and deadlines are satisfied. Will create short and long-term goals for staff, oversee development of skills and will recommend new techniques and solutions to ensure work is creative, innovative and original. In addition to managing staff, the successful candidate will be capable of writing and editing scripts/captions, as well as shooting and editing photo/video in news production and commercial production-style with a strong emphasis in visual storytelling and attention to detail. The successful candidate will have experience and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while successfully managing competing priorities daily.

Position will maintain records of all video and photo produced and an accurate inventory of photo and video software/hardware and equipment, and recommends to senior management replacing/upgrading equipment to ensure ability to meet demands. Maintains current awareness of new technologies in reference to software upgrades and makes recommendations regarding the purchase of new equipment.

Performs associated administrative and supervisory duties, such as evaluating staff, maintaining accurate records and monitoring overhead and material budgets. Responsible for branding and other guidelines are maintained within Newport News Shipbuilding and Huntington Ingalls Industries corporate standards. Must work with Supervisor of Shipbuilding to ensure photo and video products meet strict public clearance guidelines.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in media, communications and/or related field with five or more years of experience in video and/or photo production, including a news or commercial video production background. The qualified candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite – specifically Photoshop, Lightroom and Premiere.

Qualified candidate must be able to obtain a security clearance as the position will play a key role in the company’s emergency response team by overseeing photo and video response during a crisis, as well as press conference set-up and logistics.
