The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a technical review team within E92 Model Based Manufacturing (E92MBM) that shall provide technical oversight and support of the Build Authority (BA) disclosures for Carrier New Construction (CNC), specifically CVN80/81. This team is responsible for interpreting the technical direction of the design agent and ensuring the development of the Visual Work Instruction (VWI) optimally suits the manufacturing capabilities of the shipbuilder. This individual will interface with E92MBM CVN VWI Production, Technical Authority (TA), Planning, Program Office, Construction and the Navy customer.

The ideal candidate in this role will have the responsibility for leading the technical team through achieving three primary objectives:

• Develop the technical bench strength of the E92MBM production organization

• Achieve performance metrics for BA production activities

• Create a collaborative environment that builds an engaged culture for success.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design or

Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

• Ability to manage, lead and direct the work of others

• Proven exceptional communication and leadership skills

• Experience in working collaboratively across divisional lines

• Experience in planning, design engineering and waterfront manufacturing - specifically structure discipline

• Experience briefing senior leadership and Navy customers

• Understanding of VWI value stream

• Demonstrates technical rigor

• Ability to identify training needs to support the development of technical proficiency across the CVN production team

• Experience using Teamcenter and NX and SAP

• General knowledge of EVMS/LRM principles

• Managing design products

• Ability to leverage system engineer principles and project management approaches to evaluate processes and identify gaps

• A natural desire to invest, nurture and motivate a strong and diverse team that effectively supports each other
