The Role

This is a general manufacturing management leadership position on the Additive Manufacturing (AM) Production Team. This general manufacturing 2 position will lead a small team of technicians for the day to day production operations of advanced manufacturing technologies. Efforts will include potential work package development/execution, leadership for hands-on production of AM parts for the downstream customer. This hands on role requires the individual to be able to effectively function in a small team to perform complex advanced manufacturing work that includes routine engineering oversight. Other job functions and requirements desired include:

• Past Manufacturing Experience with CNC, Lathe, and/or other general machining operations.

• Ability to understand GD&T and provide training to technicians and support personnel to support the mission.

• Ability to write and execute procedures, test plans, work packages, and project closeout functions.

• Ability to oversee the setup/operation/maintenance of metal laser powder bed fusion machines and/or wire-arc AM machines

• Experience to lead hands on part finishing (deburring, grit blasting, polishing, support structure removal, etc.)

• Mechanically inclined individual with demonstrated experience performing technical work and advanced manufacturing functions.

• Relevant manufacturing leadership experience

• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Other general manufacturing skills or understanding: not limited to machining, inspection, mechanic, welding, etc.

• Leads effort to support portions of internal production control functions for AM, internal to the organization.

Must Have

Apprentice Certification, Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and 6 years of applicable, progressive technical, professional and/or supervisory work experience. A candidate must have a thorough understanding of construction, manufacturing processes, and operations

Nice to Have

• Experience in any category of 3D printing

2D/3D CAD & CAM experience is a plus

• Self-starter with the ability to lead a team perform work with to support program goals.

• Ability to collaborate with other management, engineers, and other staff to produce AM parts

• Effective time management skills. Must have the ability to manage projects and prioritize work effectively to support end product needs

• Experience leading a team of technicians that will support the safe use and operation of advanced 3D printing equipment. Some specialized training will be provided, as needed.

• Experience working effectively on cross-functional teams; specifically experience interfacing with Engineering led technical staff for equipment oversight.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and provide oversight to other technician work functions and engineering support functions.

• Functional knowledge and capability to use MS office tools (e.g., word, excel, etc.).

• Ability to perform and maintain physical activity for extended periods that may include standing and/or physical labor.

• Ability to perform work that may require modified shifts to suit the job and printing operations.

• Ability to properly handle material for incoming/outgoing material and job readiness.

• Ability to perform preventative maintenance on advanced manufacturing equipment.

• Ability to manage inventory needed for consumables and related equipment maintenance.

• Ability support development of procedures, policies, and safety standards for AM equipment in support of AM part production.
