The Role
Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.
The candidate selected for this position will serve as software test engineer for the SwCoE Test Team. The candidate for this role will be responsible for reviewing software requirements, designing test cases to evaluate the performance of the software, executing the software testing, reporting software issues, making recommendations to improve internal processes, building automated testing processes, setting up, maintaining, and operating test automation frameworks, performing test automation, developing software applications, and collaborating with other software test engineers and stakeholders. The candidate engages in all aspects of the software development life cycle for shipboard network-based automation systems, including support for the planning, requirements, development, testing, quality, and configuration management of software specifically for advanced US Navy shipboard systems.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience;
Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience;
Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.
Nice to Have
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software testing philosophies and have a technical emphasis in software testing, electrical, instrumentation, controls, networks, and automation.
• A deep understanding of the software test lifecycle, test automation, and both traditional and agile project management.
• Experience with ISO 29119 Series, ISO 25000 Series
• Experience with ISO 12207, IEEE 1012
• Proven Technical Knowledge on Test Design Techniques
• Proven Technical Knowledge on Test Automation
• An engaging individual who desires to spearhead projects and lead members
• Proactive and responsive engagement with all internal and external customers.
• Experience with Object Oriented Programming Languages such as C++, C#, Python
• Experience working with Databases such as MySQL/MS Access
• Experience with Software Configuration Management tools and processes
• Experience standing up a Test Automation Frameworks
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well with various teams
• Demonstrated experience managing projects and/or experience developing project schedules, estimates and metrics
• ISTQB Certifications are a plus.
