External Job Description:
As a member of the Newport News Enterprise Applications team you are joining a group of professionals who oversee and implement all applications deployed throughout our network. Applications may be simple installations or server/database/client architectures on Windows, Linux, or Mac. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Application Analysis and Maintenance – Architecting and building environments for hosted, client/server, and stand-alone applications. Performing mid-level analysis for vulnerabilities and threat exposure for new software introduced to the environment. Updating, patching, and licensing of applications and hosting servers in the environment.
• General Application Support – Provide tier 3 user support for assigned applications.
• IT Business Demeanor – Ability to present solutions or report on progress at a high level to business minded people, clearly and concisely.
Understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines.
Provide imaginative, thorough, and sustainable technical solutions for a wide range of complex difficult problems within organization objectives.
Independently determine and develop solutions to meet company objectives.
Always be willing to help everyone with anything.

Day to day life
Administering and troubleshooting Windows and Unix based systems
Designing and architecting and supporting complex application environments
Automation and standardization both in design and execution
Taking pride in work and self-accountable for ensuring delivery of quality in IT and business relationships
Develops computer systems specifications that address business requirements and that fit with the companys system architecture standards. Establishes and documents system parameters and formats, ensures hardware and software systems compatibility and coordinates and/or modifies system parameters in terms of existing and projected computer capacity and capabilities. Revises existing systems and procedures to correct deficiencies and maintain more effective data handling, conversion, input/output requirements, and storage.
