Overall leadership of functional resources in Engineering Technical, Design Integration, and Field Engineering groups. Responsible for safety, quality, cost and schedule performance of direct and indirect activities worked by the functional resources. Responsible for process development, improvement, maintenance and training within the Areas of Responsibility (AOR). Responsible for personnel development and succession planning within AOR and integrated with overall department. Responsible for interfacing with senior level internal and external customers. Ideal candidate should have significant depth and breadth of technical knowledge and experience across multiple disciplines, experience in resolution of technical issues, extensive knowledge of internal engineering and design processes across multiple disciplines, experience on multiple classes of ships, and established relationships with senior level internal and external customers and within industry.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school of engineering and 10 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering, and design or equivalent. A Master's of Science degree in Engineering and professional registration with 8 years of relevant experience are preferred.
Preferred candidate should have experience in multiple phases of design including concept, preliminary, functional, and detail design as well as support of ships in construction. Top secret clearance is preferred but not required.
